Center for Psychotherapy and Education is a non-profit that promotes psychotherapy but also offers psychological counselling and education. Center’s mission is to improve the quality of life and strengthen the competencies and resources of individuals and groups.

Beyond education, Center offers an accessible low-cost scheme of their own to help people find a counsellor or therapist. It also organizes meetings, conferences, consultations and trainings at their space in Belgrade city centre.

In it’s praxis, Center is is mainly focused on specific form of pshychotherapy – Gestalt Therapy.

The identity highlights a treatment of a word that stands for the Center’s primary field of interest, which is Gestalt therapy. In German, Gestalt designates shape or form, but also Holism, the idea that natural systems and their properties should be viewed as wholes, not as loose collections of parts.

Gestalt is closely connected to Bauhaus art school where Gestalt theory was studied and lectured about by it’s prominent theorists Walter Gropius, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Hannes Meyer and Johannes Itten.

We needed the solution that would work both for two key components of organization – the Center itself, with it’s educational and publishing role as well as the Gestalt counselling part of it.

We wanted both of these strong words in it’s branding. This decision influenced the design of the logotype, which is set in clean but powerful Futura typeface.

This geometric sans-serif typeface is designed by Paul Renner and released in 1927. It is based on geometric shapes, especially the circle, in spirit of the Bauhaus design style of the period.

The whole is greater
than the sum of it’s parts
