My BRAUN Layout

My BRAUN Layout is an app concept in honor of the Braun design school and Dieter Rams, who was responsible for the design of Braun's consumer products for many years.

Braun has been a benchmark for beautiful and functional design from its founding as an audio manufacturer in the '30s, through the debut of the S50 shaver in the '50s, to its current innovations in personal care.

In product design circles, the "Braun Style" is typified by crisp geometry and Dieter Rams' iconic "less is more" aesthetic. From personal care to audio, timepieces to kitchen appliances, Braun products are relevant even today, more than 30 years after their initial introduction.

This explains why there are so many collectors of BRAUN products around the world. Products that can no longer be found in regular retail are reaching high prices on eBay and Amazon, but fortunately for collectors, they can still be found at flea markets.

The My BRAUN Layout app is dedicated to all fans of the BRAUN design school and its designers: Dieter Rams, Dietrich Lubs, Reinhold Weiss, and Hans Gugelot. All known design elements, from furniture to hi-fi devices, are gathered in the app's library and divided into four groups: buttons, dots & lines, shapes, and logos.

By selecting the desired shapes and patterns, the user creates their own layout, which can later be printed on either a regular or a 3D printer.

The ethos of "less is more" was made famous by the Bauhaus movement, but it was Dieter Rams who elevated and refined the concept into "weniger aber besser" ("less but better").
